The Sworriors - Front Street Lyrics
Official

In a small town that I once knew
Which over the years I watched it grew
From just a few thousand neighbors and friends
To a people count that just won't end
And the breath of life it long ago once had
Was left by the wayside, the city never looked back
And while it welcomed the new and fostered its growth
Only passing thoughts of its history were given at most
A railside town with its cozy personality (Yeah, yeah)
Its once open streets and community mentality
And despite rose-colored glasses disguising the deceit
It was never the same to walk down this Front Street
Over a century old, its 200 acres sold,
From empty land to thousands of men and women
The square where all the family's would share
Hangin' and buyin' and always jivin'
The depot where the trains would still stop
And the several bars where all the parties would hop
But that was long ago, those remaining are dead and old
And as folks moved in, the time never stopped as it flowed
A railside town with its cozy personality (Yeah, yeah)
Its once open streets and community mentality
And despite rose-colored glasses disguising the deceit
It was never the same to walk down this Front Street
As time went on and people grew wise
They demanded things be done from old town's demise
With disgruntlement to the leaders with the mud they slew
Those people forget they're responsible for how the town grew
Wanting a life of what used to be
When it was baked in forgotten reality
You want new things in growth and keep on demandin'
And yet be surprised from all that's happened
This new world that was forged just left them ignored
By the very ones who cried of old times being gored
But I will sympathize
As someone who realize
That change is hard
No matter who you are
A railside town with its busy personality (Yeah, yeah)
Its now clogged streets and faux individuality
Shatter the rose-colored glasses, and look at the open deceit
It will never be the same to walk down this Front Street
It will never be the same
