Through the loneliness of midnight
I fell in love with a star
Shot by blinding rays of starlight
An arrow straight through the heart
Luminous beneath his armour
Veins of gold within his ore
Celestial and yet so human
A soldiers heart without the war
Oh dark hundred cast it's shadow
Sorrow served as my eclipse
The world weighed heavy on my shoulders
And I mourned a life I'd never live
Then dawn broke free behind my eyelids
Dark clouds glowed with silver lines
And soon that star within my orbit
Became my entire night sky
And the stars shoot like gunshots
Above my head
Comets dropping down like bombs
Until there's nothing left
So I'll wait within this twilight
Braid my heartstrings into rope
Tie them tight around my star above
And never let him go
Love sounds through us like a siren
Heartbeats march between our frames
A star-crossed soldier in my arms
Oh how I wish he could have stayed
But no matter how long I hold him
A call to arms must be made
So to our goodbyes we'll surrender
Until we finally meet again
And the stars shoot like gunshots
Above my head
Comets dropping down like bombs
Until there's nothing left
So I'll wait within this twilight
Braid my heartstrings into rope
The them tight around my star above
And never let him go
Never let him go
And even in our hour of darkness
To the end we will remain
No matter how far the distance
I'll still love my star all the same
Then the shooting stars were silent
Soldiers laid their arms to sleep
And the comets ceased their violence
War has drifted into peace
And in the stillness of midnight
I could never be alone
Climb that rope tied around my star
And never let him go
