Todays the day
I remember where I'm from
To revel in mistakes and embrace who I've become
There's not a point in trying to change
When all I've done has paved this road that I walk
It allows me to stand here and talk
I was raised to believe that we make our own way
Accept all the hardships and push through all the pain
Maybe todays the day I write it down what I've been meaning to say
Even if its few and far between
The way to describe it seems to always escape me
I guess I'll dwell on it for a bit
Sit back and try to swallow it
Let my words run and flow free
Just like my mom once taught me
She taught me not to stray
And to see colors in a brand new way
The world is painted in shades of grey
Those areas in between show us the right way
Maybe todays the day I write it down what I've been meaning to say
Even if its few and far between
The way to describe it seems to always escape me
No matter what I do
No matter what I say
It's the way I think
That gets in the way
Of how I hope and the way I dream
The way I never write things down and how they escape me
Maybe today the day I write it down what I've been meaning to say
Even if its few and far between
The way to describe it seems to always escape me
Older generations never had it right
They only saw in black and white
In black and white
In black and white
