Tim Knecht - X's and O's Lyrics

Was a young boy from Wisconsin with a fire in his heart
He wrote some songs and wanted to show the world
He had a high school sweetheart that he met freshman year
And he promised to marry her one day

Bought a ticket down to Nashville to try and make it big
Playin anywhere he could just to be heard
He wrote a letter to his sweetheart that was waitin back at home
She's worried sick and feelin alone

It said honey I'm missin you so much, I'll only be gone a little longer
This livin is rough, and the town is tough, but I'm not too bothered
I know you're waitin on me to finish following my dream
I'll be home before you know, I love you baby, x's and o's

The years went by and they got married, even had a baby girl
But he was still on the road all the time
Broke into the industry, playin all through the country
And after a show he wrote a letter back to home

It said honey I'm missin you so much, I'll only be gone a little longer
I'm startin to get far playin this guitar
And I'm gettin more and more offers
I know you're waitin on me to finish following my dream
I'll be home before you know, I love you baby, x's and o's

One day the band and him were on a plane to Tucson
It was a dark and stormy night, and the fog was all around
The pilot couldn't see, they took off and clipped a tree
And the tiny plane came crashing to the ground

His wife got the phone call, it shattered her whole world
She held their baby girl and weeped and moaned
A few days later she checked the mail, and found a letter there
It was his writing and was addressed to home

It said honey I'm missin you so much, can't stand to be away any longer
I'm givin up this ramblin life, don't want to spend another night
Away from you and our daughter
Thanks for waitin on me, I'm done chasin this dream
I'll be home before you know, I love you baby, x's and o's
