Sand like boulders for the 1st instar
The creature was an egg not long ago
Shell still soft she hides from predators
Little does she know she's got so far to go
Nothing is more dangerous than life
Full of pain and trouble and strife
Nothing is more marvellous than life
Although with death it is rife
There she goes on upon her many legs
Where to nobody can tell her for sure
Like a machine, determined to go on
Three hundred million years now she's been gone
She is a creature of the sea
Nowhere else she'd rather be
She is a dweller of the deep
Where there isn't much to see
Her eyes, her very own kaleidoscope
Glimpses of phosphorescent enemies
Keeps on and feeds upon what she can find
Tries not to lose any extremities
Nothing is more dangerous than life
Full of pain and trouble and strife
Nothing is more marvellous than life
Although with death it is rife
She doesn't know what lies ahead of her
Not sure in what direction she must creep
But she carries on relentlessly
And she never ever needs to sleep
She is a creature of the sea
Nowhere else she'd rather be
She is a dweller of the deep
So far there isn't much to see
