Tristen White - I'll Die In My Boots Lyrics

Tristen White - I'll Die In My Boots Lyrics
Official

I think I lost a few of you a couple bars into the interlude
I guess I never learned to act my age
And writing songs for rabid dogs wasn't what I thought it'd be at all
It's just another war we have to wage
It's looking like the end of things; the kids don't know the sound of strings
What I wouldn't give for them to feel
The goods and bads don't matter when it's real
Like writing when you know that you don't have a word worth saying
Looking in the mirror telling it the things you lack
Spitting in a summer breeze you didn't know you'd been praying for
Rambling all these years just to end up where you're at
If we live to talk about it
That's enough for me is it enough for you?
If not I'll go out the door I came through and I'll die in my boots
It only took a drink or three for her to get the best of me
I'd tell you more about her but I lost track
An apple here an evening there it's all the same you'll see I swear
But you can't fix a problem you don't have
It's Carolina to its core from life between the peaks and shores
Not one thing will I trade for my soul
Seeing signs of the times just means you're getting old
Like writing when you know that you don't have a word worth saying
Looking in the mirror telling it the things you lack
Spitting in a summer breeze you didn't know you'd been praying for
Rambling all these years just to end up where you're at
If we live to talk about it
That's enough for me is it enough for you?
If not I'll go out the door I came through and I'll die in my boots
Don't fear the way things change
They just fear uselessness
I don't fear the way before me
I just hope it all makes sense
If I should die before I wake let me sleep beneath the dogwood shade
Air out all my sins and curse my name
Raise a glass or pour one out just don't pretend you cared about me
If you're so inclined then dance on my grave
'Cause I hate the way I sound on stage and half the words on every page
Me and my ego are the only ones to blame
Despite my best attempts to quench this flame
I'm still writing when I know that I don't have a word worth saying
Looking in the mirror telling it the things I lack
Spitting in a summer breeze I didn't know I'd been praying for
Rambling all these years just to end up where I'm at
I hope we can laugh about it
To hell with our opinions anyway
If we live to talk about it and I doubt it
It's enough for me is it enough for you?
If not I'll go out the door I came through
May God let us go out the way we're meant to
And I'll die in my boots
