It's the winter of 1975
Beautiful little girl first opens her eyes
Her mama couldn't afford to get supplies
But she was damn well there every time she cried
She grew up and barely knew her father
But her mother tried to make the best for her daughter
She was a weird one ever since she was a toddler
But she was loved by her family like no other
Around 6 her mom found another man
So they had to move to a different type of land
But then she got sent back to her kin
For a while, she couldn't hold her mom's hand
She grew up for a while with her aunts and cousins
They were happy even though they had nothing
Barely had enough to eat but she was overcoming
Her mom eventually came back after divorcing her husband
She always knew she had to seize her moment
So she did just that, she became more open
Got a job on the radio, her future getting noticed
But this was really only a component
She was starting to be seen on the TV
Would have never guessed what she'd come to be
She was happy living carefree
But she didn't know her future would be crappy
She went back and forth to Cali
Then met this man in her little Mexican valley
Whenever they were apart he was calling
Then he gave up rolling around with his posse
He convinced her to move to Florida with him
Tried to take her to church to clean her sins
She wasn't really into it in the beginning
And then she sang her first hymn
Had a kid in 1998
Up until then, her life was going great
