Through the storm
I couldn't help but recall
Aransas Bay in the fall of '78 when we started this all
Me on leave from the rigs
You a fourth year UT Phi Sig
So young, we didn't even know what love is but knew together we could find it
Now I can't find the way back to Aransas Bay
Back to the days when hope and love were enough to keep us safe
I can't find the way back to Aransas Bay
Back to the days when nothing could steal you away from me
We returned to the pass to give birth to our Elizabeth
As the cold winter of '83 passed
The spring brought us new life to love
Every year we made it back there
In good or bad times, we didn't care
We could find our way blind or in the dark and the Bay would remind us of the light in our hearts
Now I can't find the way back to Aransas Bay
Back to the days when hope and love were enough to keep us safe
I can't find the way back to Aransas Bay
Back to the days when nothing could steal you away from me
Now where have you gone?
Why did you go?
Why can't I follow?
Nothing was to take you away from me
And our little girl?
What do I say?
What do I do?
You were the one who always knew
I can't do this without you.... without you
When you'd had enough and asked the doctors to stop
And said let the rest just be up to god
I packed Elizabeth and all our stuff and gassed the old Dodge up
Ready to go the very next day
I knew if we could just make it back to the Bay
Somehow everything would be okay
But I was too late.
Now I can't find the way back to Aransas Bay
Back to the days when hope and love were enough to keep us safe
I can't find the way back to Aransas Bay
Back to the days when nothing could steal you away from me
