I was driving down a road
That I'd never traveled
Deep through the woods
On that road made of gravel
It turned to the left
It turned to the right
I hung on to that wheel
With all of my might
The sky it started clearing
Out in front of me
And from the top of a hill
I was starting to see
Bright Lights on that warm summer night
The glow of the city such a beautiful sight
So many colors,
Too many to say,
Put on such an awesome,
Colored display
It was like a view from a plane
But not leaving the ground
Made me start thinking
Of heading for home right now
I sat there for awhile
To take in,
That wonderful site
And wondered why I traveled this way
On this, particular night
There must be a reason
There must be a feeling
But it just wasn't coming to me
Bright Lights on that warm summer night
The glow of the city such a beautiful sight
So many colors, too many to say,
Put on such an awesome,
Colored display
It was like a view from a plane
But not leaving the ground
Made me start thinking
Of heading for home right now
Yeah, right now
I know there's a reason
And just then,
It came to me
All the stress I've felt,
Had just left from me
Bright Lights on that warm summer night
The glow of the city such a beautiful sight
So many colors,
Too many to say,
Put on such an awesome,
Colored display
It was like a view from a plane
But not leaving the ground
Made me start thinking
Of heading for home right now
Oh those,
Bright lights on that warm summer night
