Last night I watched a child in a yellow raincoat
Running through the puddles, trying to catch the falling rain
Her hands above her head like broken teacups
For every drop she caught another slipped away.
She froze to see me standing in the doorway
She looked at me and bowed with great esteem
She whispered you're so tall, you must be strong, then
So miss, can you help me catch a dream?
Reach for the sky
And try to paint me a rainbow
Or may-be you can chuck a plane.
Reach for the sky
And try to choke the sunlight
I will keep on trying to catch the rain.
I asked her where she lived to take her home
She shivered like a new-born foal
Her mother cried and asked why do you keep running away
She said, I'm catching rain for you to quench your soul.
Reach for the sky
And try to paint me a rainbow
Or maybe you can chuck a plane.
Reach for the sky
And try to choke the sunlight
I will keep on trying to catch the rain.
