Saint Nicolas the Christmas Kitty
Divine feline, we called him Nicky
He wasn't bought at a shopping mall
We thought that he was the greatest of all
Up on the rooftop, rain does fall
While he's fast asleep 'bove the deck in the hall
We slid our mattresses down the stairs
And hoped that Saint Nick would always be there
He batted ornaments on the tree
Like a piñata, he swung wild and free
Wrapped up in ribbon, a bow on his head
There's no other present that I'd want instead
When out on the lawn, arose such a clatter
Up went the lights, but down crashed the ladder
My father stuck on the top of the house!
Even inside, we could still hear him shout
Godspeed Saint Nick, no longer with us
I think of you when it's time for Christmas
The perfect gift isn't bought in a store
So maybe this year, you can give something more
